The music industry sucks. Record labels and streaming companies control distribution, rights, revenue, and the artists of the world get screwed. The world needs more ways for small artists to get discovered and funded by the people who love them.

This isn’t going to fix all that outright, but it’s something small, something fun that might help some artists get found and funded.

Chromatic is a daily contest and auction for music — every midnight UTC, a new nomination period, voting period, and auction starts, with users participating to highlight the best underground music out there. At the end of three days, any artist could come away with 95% of the auction proceeds (5% used to operate the system).

It’s built on tech that runs itself with basically no overhead. And I really put my heart into making this site something beautiful and fun that puts the artist and fans at the center of the experience.

The split is fixed in the auction contract, and nobody can change it, us included. When the auction closes, the contract credits both shares at once, and each side withdraws its own.

The payout address belongs to the artist, not to us. It is the wallet of the X account they were entered under, and they collect by logging in with that account, so nobody can collect on someone else's work. Every sale and every payout is on the public record if you want to check ours.
